The distributive property tells us that
color(white)("XXX")-3(6-3n) = (-3)xx6 -(-3)xx3n =-18+9n

So
color(white)("XXX")-3(6-3n)=-63
is equivalent to
color(white)("XXX")-18+9n=-63

adding 18 to both sides
color(white)("XXX")9n=-45

dividing both sides by 9
color(white)("XXX")n=-5
