The acceleration is 0.37m/s².

Acceleration is the change in velocity over a period of time. Mathematically,

a = (Δv)/(Δt) = (v_2 –v_1)/(t_2-t_1)

Δv = v_2 –v_1 = "40 km/h – 0" = "40 km"/"1 h" ×"1000 m"/"1 km" × "1 h"/"60 min" × "1 min"/"60 s" = "11.1 m/s"

Δt = t_2 –t_1 = "30 s – 0" = "30 s"

So

a = (v_2 –v_1)/(t_2-t_1) = "11.1 m/s"/"30 s" = "0.37 m/s"^2
