Things y0u can do to both sides of an inequality without effecting the orientation of the inequality:

  1. Add or subtract any value
  2. Multiply or divide by any value greater than zero

#3(x-4)> -2#

Divide by 3
#x-4>-2/3#

Add 4
#x > 4-2/3#
or
#x>3 1/3#

Solve #3(x-4) > -2# .

Distribute the #3#.

#3x-12> -2#

Add #12# to both sides.

#3x-12+12> -2+12# =

#3x> 10#

Divide both sides by #3#.

#(cancel(3)x)/cancel3> 10/3# =

#x> 10/3#
