For this case. We have the Final Volume $(V_{f})$ $(V_f)$ and the Dilution Factor $(D F)$ $(DF)$ but not the Initial Volume $(V_{i})$ $(V_i)$ .

So this $D F = \frac{V_{f}}{V_{i}}$ $DF=V_f/V_i$

Becomes this $4 = \frac{600}{V_{i}}$ $4=600/V_i$

With some rearranging $V_{i} = \frac{600}{4}$ $V_i=600/4$

Which results in our answer of $V_{i} = 150$ $V_i=150$ microliters
