The period is only effected by the argument of the trig function; the other values (#-3 " and " +2# in this case) effect the amplitude and relative location in the plane.

#sec(theta)# has a period of #2pi#

#sec(-6x) " and " sec(6x)# have the same period.

#sec(6x)#
is going to cover the same range as #sec(theta)#
but #6# times "faster"
so
the period of #sec(-6x)# is #(2pi)/6 = pi/3#
