153cm = 1.53m

Explanation:

A perimeter is a distance. It is the distance around the outside of a shape. In this case there is a rectangle, which has 4 sides, 2 longer ones (lengths) and 2 shorter ones(breadths).

Add them all together: P = l + l + b + b

This can also be written as P = 2l + 2b

Or you might prefer to use: P= 2(l+b)

As long as you include all of the 4 sides, any of these is fine, they will give the same answer. Because is it a distance, the units of the perimeter are cm. (or m, km, miles inches etc)

P = 2xx52.9 + 2 xx 23.6 = 153cm
