See explanation.

Explanation:

For an atom to be sp-hybridized it means that its ss and pp orbitals will combine and form new orbitals in order for the molecular geometry around this atom to be linear and the bond angle equals 180^@180.

For example, carbon atoms in ethyne (HC-=CHHCCH) are sp-hybridized.

The one ss orbital combine with one p_xpx orbital to give two spsp orbitals and the two p_ypy and p_zpz orbitals will be used to form the two piπ bonds.

Therefore, for a carbon atom in ethyne:

Two spsp orbitals to form two sigmaσ bonds. The H-CHC and C-CCC bonds.

The p_ypy and p_zpz to form two piπ bonds C-=CCC.
