You treat this the way you do any algebra manipulation. One trap you have to watch for though is that it is imperative you keep in mind that 'the v part' is less than. This can catch you out when multiplying by (-1). We are not doing so in this problem!

Subtract 7 from both sides giving:
Multiply both sides by 6
Divide both sides by 5
