Explanation:

What I would do is add 4 to both sides of the expression to cancel out the 4 on the left hand side and to get 3m by itself like this:

#3m - 4 < 2#
# +4 +4#

When you do that you should get

#3m < 6#

Now divide both sides by 3 to get m by itself like this:

#(3m)/3 < 6/3#

When you do that division you're left with m on the left hand side and 2 on the right hand side, with a less than sign separating them like so:
