How do you find the slope and intercept to graph #y=2x-1#?

Your line is actually already written in the slope-intercept form: when a line is written as

#y=mx+q#

you know that #m# is the slope and #q# is the intercept. So, in your case, the slope is #2# and the intercept is #-1#.

As for the graphing part, a line is surely the easiest function to graph, you simply need two points on the line, and then connect them. Furthermore, since you already know that the #y#-intercept is #-1#, you know that #(0,-1)# is a point on the line.

To find the second point, pick any value of #x# and find its #y#: for example, if #x=1#, you have #f(1)=2*1-1=1#, so #(1,1)# is another point on the line.

To graph it, then, simply connect the points #(0,-1)# and #(1,1)#.
