Explanation:

The x-intercept is the value of #x# when #y=0# for a given relationship. This is the same as saying it is the value where the relationship line crosses the X-axis (since for all points on the X-axis, #y=0#).

Substituting #0# for #y# in the given relationship: #x+5y =0# gives
