To find the x and y -intercepts of x+y=-5, you'll have to isolate x and then you'll have to isolate y.

Explanation:

You first need to isolate one of your variables (I chose to isolate y).

x+y=-5" " rarr" "y=-x-5

You now know what the y-intercept is (-5).

Then you isolate your other variable(for me its x).
x+y=-5" "rarr" " x=-y-5
You now know what the y intercept is (-5).
