Explanation:

A single equation with two unknowns will not have any unique solution.

We could however "solve" this to give an expression for Y in terms of X:

color(white)("XXX")rarr 2Y=-3X-8

color(white)("XXX")rarr Y = -3/2X-4

Note that the graph of 2X+3Y=-8 (below) is not a single point;
rather it is a line giving infinitely many solution pairs for (X,Y)
