Because of the obliteration of Custer and the 7th cavalry.
Explanation:
The battle was fought in June 1876. The five companies under Custer were completely wiped out including himself. Much of the defeat was down to Custer's arrogance. It was a major victory for the Sioux, Cheyenne and Arapaho forces.
