Why do mutations in genes affect traits?

1 Answer

The affected genes by mutations changed the structure of enzymes, ultimately which affect the expression of particular trait/s.

Explanation:

The sequence of genes i.e., structures of DNA determine the sequence of aminoacids in primary protein. The primary proteins finally form the enzymes.
The enzymes are the biocatalyst and help the expression of traits in an organisms by caatlysing the chemical process of that trait. The changed biocatalysts work in different ways and affect the expression of normal traits.
