Why can $x^2-4=0$ have multiple solutions? Isn't the answer just $x=2$ ?

if $x^2 = 4$
then,

$x$ will have 2 values.

First $x = +2$
Second $x = -2$

Similarly,

if $x$ has a power of 3

It'll have 3 values and so on.

Why can x^2-4=0x^2-4=0 have multiple solutions? Isn't the answer just x=2x=2?
