-4x^2+x+1=04x2+x+1=0

By comparing with

ax^2+bx+c=0ax2+bx+c=0,

we have

{(a=-4),(b=1),(c=1):}

By Quadratic Formula,

x={-b pm sqrt{b^2-4ac}}/{2a}

={-1 pm sqrt{1^2-4cdot(-4)cdot1}}/{2cdot(-4)}

={-1 pm sqrt{17}}/{-8}={1 pm sqrt{17}}/{8}

Hence, the solutions are x={1 pm sqrt{17}}/{8}.

I hope that this was helpful.
