Why are cycloalkanes used as fuels?

It's not really a case that cycloalkanes are "used as fuels"......
Explanation:
You do not find anyone using something such as pure cylcohexane as a fuel! I think the point you're alluding to is that gasolines that have a relatively high proportion of cycloalkanes tend to combust in a way that is (relatively) smoother, and more easily controlled. Gasolines containing mainly straight chain alkanes on the other hand tend to ignite very rapidly which leads to inefficient combustion and 'knocking'.
But that is not the same as saying "cycloalkanes are used as fuels". Its a bit like saying "Its good to use vitamins as food" when what you really mean is: it's good to use things as food that are high in vitamins.
