#"y-intercept "->(x,y)=(0,-5)#

Slope is 1

Explanation:

Write as:#" "x-5=y#

Turn it round and we have the same thing

#y=x-5#

Compare to #y=mx+c#

where m is the gradient. It is known that #1xxx=x# so the gradient m must be 1.

The slope is 1. This means that for every 1 along left to right the graph goes up 1.

The y intercept is at #x=0# so

#y=x-5" becomes "y=0-5#

So the y intercept is at #y=-5#

To write this properly you would present it as

#"y-intercept "->(x,y)=(0,-5)#
