Geologists study rocks, as well as what the Earth is made of and how it was formed.
A geologist may study different types of rocks in a location and how they were formed. This information gives valuable insight into how this section of land came to be, or how it was created. Geology is almost like a puzzle, where many small pieces come together to tell a large story. A geologist may also study volcanic activity and plate tectonics to learn about new land being formed.
