The two numbers are $color(green)(12, 10$

Let one number be $color(red)(x$ . Then the other number will be $color(red)(x - 2$

Given sum of the two numbers = 22.

Hence $x + (x - 2) = 22$

Removing the bracket, $x + x - 2 = 22$

$2x - cancel2 +cancel 2 = 22 + 2$ , adding 2 to both sides.

$2x = 24$ or $x = 24 / 2 = color(green )(12$

Other number is $x - 2 = 12 - 2 = color(green)(10$
