Explanation:
The digestive system breaks food down to where it can be absorbed into the blood stream. ( Digest means to break down to make smaller, Such as Reader's digest which reduces large stories into small shorter stories.)
The mouth chews the food and breaks it down into smaller pieces.
The esophagus carries the smaller food particles which can be shallowed down the tube (which is the esophagus ) to the stomach.
The Stomach mixes the smaller particles with enzymes and acids which dissolve the particles into a slurry making them even smaller.
The small intestine has even more enzymes which breaks the particles in the slurry into molecules size pieces which can pass from the villi in the small intestines to the blood.
So these are all part of the digestive system that breaks down food into pieces so small that the pieces can be carried by the blood to the cells.
