We are told that:

#x_1-x_2 = 1# Equaltion (A)

and

#x_1+x_2 = 13# Equation (B)

(A) + (B) #-> 2x_1 = 14#

#x_1 = 7#

Replacing #x_1 =7# in (B) #-> 7 -x_2 =1#

#x_2 = 6#

Hence the two numbers are #7 and 6#
