The length of the rectangle is 24cm and the width is 6cm.

Explanation:

Let L =L= the length of the rectangle and W = W=the width.

If the length is four times the width, then L=4WL=4W

The formula for perimeter PP is L+L+W+W=PL+L+W+W=P or

2L+2W=P2L+2W=P

Substituting 4W4W for LL and 6060 for PP

2(4W)+2W=602(4W)+2W=60

8W+2W=608W+2W=60

10W=6010W=60

(10W)/10=60/1010W10=6010

W=6 cmW=6cm

L=4W=4(6)=24cmL=4W=4(6)=24cm
