Two real roots

Comparing given quadratic equation: $x^2-8x+3=0$ with the standard form of quadratic equation: $ax^2+bx+c=0$ we get

$a=1, b=-8, c=3$

The value of discriminant

$b^2-4ac=(-8)^2-4(1)(3)=64-12=52>0$

Since, the discriminant $b^2-4ac>0$ hence both the roots are real & distinct
