x=6 or x=-5

Explanation:

arrange the equation x^2 - x -30=0
x=\frac{-b\pm\sqrt{b^2-4ac\ }}{2a}.
now a=1 ,b=-1 and c=-30
now solve using the quadratic equation
and get two equations one is x=(1 +11)/ 2 and x=(1-11)/2
after solving them you will get x=6 and x=-5
