Given -

$y=2x-5$ -------------------(1)
$4x-y=7$ -----------------------(2)

Substitute $y=2x-5$ in equation (2)

$4x-(2x-5)=7$
$4x-2x+5=7$
$2x=7-5=2$
$x=2/2=1$
$x=1$

Substitute $x=1$ in equation (1)

$y=2(1)-5=2-5=-3$

$y=-3$
