you would do this by solving by addition/elimination.

$x = 2 y + 6$ $x=2y+6$ plus
$3 x = - 2 y + 10$ $3x=-2y+10$

add all terms going in a downward direction. $x + 3 x = 4 x$ $x+3x=4x$ , $2 y - 2 y = 0$ $2y-2y=0$ and $6 + 10 = 16$ $6+10=16$ , leaving

$4 x = 16$ $4x=16$

$:.x=4$

sub the x value in and test for y.

$4=2y+6$

$-2=2y$
