you would do this by solving by addition/elimination.

#x=2y+6# plus
#3x=-2y+10#

add all terms going in a downward direction. #x+3x=4x#, #2y-2y=0# and #6+10=16#, leaving

#4x=16#

#:.x=4#

sub the x value in and test for y.

#4=2y+6#

#-2=2y#

#y=1#
