$y - 3 x = - 13$ $y-3x=-13$
$y = - 13 + 3 x$ $y = -13 +3x$ ........equation $(2)$ $(2)$

substituting equation $(2)$ $(2)$ in equation $(1)$ $(1)$
$2 y + 6 = x$ $2y+6=x$
$2 (- 13 + 3 x) + 6 = x$ $2(-13 +3x) +6 = x$
$- 26 + 6 x + 6 = x$ $- 26 +6x +6 = x$
$6 x - x = 20$ $6x -x = 20$
$x = \frac{20}{5} = 4$ $x = 20/5 = 4$

substituting this value of $x$ $x$ in equation 2
$y = - 13 + 3 x$ $y = -13 +3x$
$y = - 13 + 3 . (4)$ $y = -13 +3.(4)$
$y = - 13 + 12 = - 1$ $y = -13 +12 = -1$
