Using the substitution method, starting with the first equation:

$9 y + 9 = - 3 x$ $9y+9 = -3x$

$\frac{9 y}{- 3} + \frac{9}{- 3} = \frac{- 3 x}{- 3}$ $(9y)/-3+9/-3 = (-3x)/-3$
