$-6x+y=-8$ --- (1)
$6y+4x=12$ --- (2)

From (1),
$-6x+y=-8$
$y=6x-8$ --- (3)

Sub (3) into (2)
$6(6x-8)+4x=12$
$36x-48+4x=12$
$40x=60$
$x=3/2$ --- (4)

Sub (4) into (3)
$y=6*3/2-8$
$y=1$
