Solving by **elimination **

Subtracting equation 2 from 1

-2x+cancelcolor(blue)(y)=1

+x-cancelcolor(blue)(y)=+3

-x=4

Finding y by substituting x in equation 1:
-2x+y=1

-2 xx (-4)+y=1

8+y=1

y=1-8
