Explanation:

first rearrange the first equation so that it is the same as the second #2x-10y=-42# after place them one below the other.then change the sign of the second equation and remember when you will change the sign of x every other sign in that equation will change.after doing this the sign of x will be different and you will cancel them and then calculate y #-3y-10y=-42-8#
#y=3.85# after getting why put in equation 1 and put the value of y to get x #2x- 10 (3.85)=-42#
#x-1.75#
