$y=-3x+8..............(i)$
$y=2x+3................(ii)$
Since the $L.H.S$ of $(i)$ and $(ii)$ are equal to the same variable $y$ therefore the $R.H.S$ of $(i)$ and $(ii)$ will also be equal.
$implies 2x+3=-3x+8$
$implies 5x=5$
$implies x=1$
Put $x=1$ in $(ii)$
$implies y=2*1+3$
$implies y=5$
