f(x) = sin 4x + 2sin 2x = 0

= 2sin 2x.cos 2x + 2sin 2x = 2sin 2x (cos 2x - 1)
Next, solve the 2 basic trig equations: sin 2x = 0 and cos 2x = 1.
a. sin 2x = 0 --> 2x = 0 -> x = 0
sin 2x = 0 -> 2x = pi -> x = pi/2
b. cos 2x = 1 -> 2x = 0 -> x = 0
cos 2x = 1 -> 2x = 2pi -> x = pi.
