x=2-sqrt22/2 or x=2+sqrt22/2

Explanation:

Quadratic formula gives the solution of quadratic equation ax^2+bx+c=0 as x=(-b+-sqrt(b^2-4ac))/(2a).

Hence solution of 2x^2+8x-3=0 using the formula is given by

x=(-8+-sqrt(8^2-4xx2xx(-3)))/(2xx2) or

x=(-8+-sqrt(64+24))/4 or

x=(-8+-sqrt88)/4 or

x=-2+-sqrt(4xx22)/4=2+-2/4sqrt22 or

x=2+-sqrt22/2 i.e.

x=2-sqrt22/2 or x=2+sqrt22/2
