To normalise a vector we divide each of its elements by the length of the vector. First find the length: r=sqrt((-3)^2+1^2+(-1)^2)=sqrt11~~3.3. The normalised vector can be written as ((-3)/sqrt11i+1/sqrt11j-1/sqrt11k) or (-3/3.3i+1/3.3j-1/3.3k).
