To find the x-intercept let y = 0 : hence -x - 5 = 0 so x = - 5

ie ( - 5 , 0 )

These 2 points will allow the line to be drawn but a 3rd

is preferable. Choose any value for x and evaluate y.

choose x = 2 : then y = - 2 - 5 = - 7 ie (2 , - 7 )

Plot these 3 points: (0 , - 5 ) , (- 5 , 0 ) and (2 , - 7 ) and
