To plot the graph of $y=3^x$ , there is a need to determine some important (x, y) coordinates and asymptotes.

from the equation $y=3^x$ , set $x=0$ , then solve for $y$ to determine the y-intercept.

$y=3^0=1$ so one point on the graph is $(0, 1)$

Set x now to the very large value $+oo$ , then solve for y.

$y=3^oo=oo$ so conclusive to say that when $x$ approaches $oo$
$y$ approaches $oo$ also

Set x now to the very negative value $-oo$ , then solve for $y$ .

$y=3^-oo=0$

therefore, at $x=-oo$ the value of $y$ approaches 0 and $y=0$ is an asymptote.
