The x coordinate can be calculated using

#V=(p,q)# where #p=(-b)/(2a)# and #q=(-Delta)/(4a)#

If you don't want to calculate #Delta# (or the exercise says not to do so) you can use the fact that #q=f(p)# that is calculate #q# as the value of #f(p)#
