suppose,

#6x=29-8y..................................................(ii)#

from #(ii)# we can find,

#6x+8y=29..................................................(iii)#

now,
#6xx(i)-(iii)=>#
#cancel(6x)+12y=6#
#cancel(6x)+8y=29#
...............................
#=>4y=-23#
#=>y=-23/4#

now, putting #y=-23/4# in #(iii)# we get,

#6x-46=29#

#=>6x=75#

#=>x=25/2#
