Solve by elimination and substitution:

-8x+y=2,8x+3y=-9

Eliminate 8x from the second equation by -8x in the first equation:

Add both the equations:

rarr(-8x+y=2)+(8x+3y=-9)

rarr4y=-7

rarry=-7/4

Substitute the value of y to the first equation:

rarr-8x+(-7/4)=2

rarr-8x-7/4=2

rarr(-32x-7)/4=2

rarr-32x-7=4*2

rarr-32x-7=8

rarr-32x=8+7

rarr-32x=15

rarrx=-15/32:)
