8x+24y=28x+24y=2 (Consider this equation as equation 1)
x−7y=4x−7y=4 (Consider this equation as equation 2)

x=(2-24y)/8x=2−24y8(From equation 1)
Substitute this in equation 2
(2-24y)/8-7y=42−24y8−7y=4
2-24y-56y=322−24y−56y=32
80y=-3080y=−30
y=-3/8y=−38
Substitute this in equation 1
8x+24(-3/8)=28x+24(−38)=2
8x-9=28x−9=2
8x=118x=11
x=11/8x=118
