#2 x +4 y =8 ; (1) , 3 x -4 y = 7 ; (2)# Adding equation (1)

equation (2) we get, #2 x + cancel(4 y) + 3 x - cancel(4 y) = 8+7 #

#:. 5 x = 15 or x =3# Putting #x=3# in equation (1) we get,

#2*3 +4 y =8 or 4 y =8-6 or 4 y =2 or y =1/2#

Solution: #x=3, y=1/2# [Ans]
