  2. # SF_6. Sulfur hexaflouride. or Sulfur+6 flouride

There are two acceptable ways of naming these compounds.

Explanation:

(a) Using multiplying prefixes

mono = 1, but the prefix is omitted before the name of the first element

tetra = 4

penta = 5

hexa = 6

Thus,

#"P"_4"S"_5# is tetraphosphorus pentasulfide

#"SF"_6# is sulfur hexafluoride

(b) Using Roman numerals to indicate oxidation numbers

When an element can have more than one oxidation number, the oxidation number is indicated by a Roman numeral in parentheses immediately following the name (no spaces) of the element.

Thus,

#"P"_4"S"_5# is phosphorus(V) sulfide

#"SF"_6# is sulfur(VI) fluoride
