Our environment consists on biotic factors and abiotic factors.

Biotic factors are producers (such as trees), consumers (such as humans), and decomposers.

Abiotic (nonliving) factors are inorganics, organics, and physical factors.

Ecosphere (Biosphere) covers these. Therefore, environmental science is not only interested in animals. It is interested all links between and among all biotic factors and abiotic factors.
