A rhombus and a trapezoid (trapezium) are both types of quadrilaterals (4 sided figures), but they have different properties.

Explanation:

A trapezoid has very few properties:
- the sum of its angles is #360°#
- one pair of opposite sides is parallel

In a rhombus
Two pairs of opposite sides are parallel
All the sides are equal.
The opposite angles are equal
The diagonals bisect each other at 90°
The diagonals bisect the angles at the vertices
There are 2 lines of symmetry
It has rotational symmetry of order 2

While rhombus can be called a trapezoid because it has all the properties, a trapezoid cannot be a rhombus.
