Snell's Law can be used to calculate the critical angle for total internal reflection.

n1sinθ1=n2sinθ2

where n1 is the index of refraction of the incident substance
θ1 is the unknown critical angle
n2 is the index of refraction of the refracting substance
θ2 is the angle of refraction (θ2=90o in a critical angle question)

Isolate θ1 by dividing both sides by n1

Then once you have solved for sinθ1, remember to take the inverse sine to find the angle of incidence.
