The greater the Index of refraction (n), the lower the speed of light through the medium.
Or
The lower the Speed of light thru the medium the greater the index of refraction (n).
Very interesting: in English they say a ray of light is bent. In German they say a ray of light is gebrochen (broken). In German the index of refraction is known as the Brechzahl, the "breaking number".
