Why is the body temperature maintained at about 37°C?

It's all about Hypothalamus,it is a part of midbrain or Diencephalon
It has thermoregulatory centre which helps to maintain your body temperature by putting strict control over pyrogens(substances which causes pyrexia i.e fever)
During fever hypothalamus facilitates these pyrogen production and antipyretic drug (that reduces fever) like Paracetamol are made to target these pyrogens produced by an enzyme called Cyclooxygenase 3 (COX III).
